Highschool Of The Dead

High school students are getting attacked by what looks like zombies. Five students and the school nurse work together to survive the "attack." This is more of an ecchi anime than an action one. One thing I should point out. There are 2 guys in the group and 3 big boobed female students and a hot nurse. You know where this is going to.

Action starts almost instantly, we see 2 guys and a girl (the focus is the girl's boobs and panties) fighting a bunch of zombies. They make a run for the higher grounds on the roof, they take the stairs, the girl trips, zombie is about to attack her and his head get's smashed while the focus is on the panties on the girl... It's always fun to watch zombie heads smashing. Here we cut to a little flashback as to explain what's happened. I don't want to give any spoilers, but they are gonna fight, run and hide from zombies through the whole anime.

As I said earlier, it's an action-ecchi anime, but it has some comedic value. The setup is great, it makes you wonder if in case of a real zombie apocalypse what would you do if you were in their shoes.
The characters and their development are good. Each one has a solid back story and we will find out the story for each and every one of them through the anime. Although, the nurse's story and and her connections with other characters are a little improbable, it's still a well thought story.

Now, what really bugs me.. is the plot. It's not too bad, but it bugs me. There are some holes in the story, I won't bother explaining them, but that's not so bad. (DON'T REED THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IF YOU DON'T WANT ANY SPOILERS)

DO NOT REED HERE: The zombies... how they don't explain anything about them bothers me the most. Almost instantly we know they lack 3-4 senses. They can ONLY hear (also, I think they can taste too). Why? Won't find out. There are a lot of questions to be asked about the zombies, like.. Who or what created them? Why were they created? How were they created? Where did they first start showing up... but unfortunately, we don't learn a thing. They have some speculations about their existence, but that's about it.

IT'S SAFE TO READ NOW! About the ending... The anime kinda ends from nowhere. You think they are gonna go somewhere to find shelter or how to end this crisis once and for all, but no. It ends with no warning. Perhaps they are leaving room for another season? I'll let you decide. Overall, I would give the anime 8/10 because, again, it's fun to watch and makes you think what would you do.

But then again, why am I looking for sense? I should watch the damn boobs and panties till we're satisfied. :)

The Skull Man

I probably found out about this anime through Soul Eater. They have something in common, but I don't remember what. To me, this is a real unusual anime. It's not like something I would watch. I usually watch action, comedy, superpowers.... stuff like that. This anime has almost nothing to to with those. I also like a good mystery and this is a first mysterious anime for me.
The story of the anime is quite unique. The anime resembles some kind of a detective novel or a comic. To be honest, I've never seen an anime like this before and that's the main reason why I wanted to watch it.
The anime starts off with a murder of some sort, we don't see the killer clearly and we can't see what's actually going on. After that scene, we see our protagonist in the story. His name is Hayato Mikogami, a journalist, wanting to find out more about this mysterious murder. Later, he will be joined with a child-like photographer, Kiriko Mamiya. Supposedly, the Skull Man did the murder or maybe somehow he's connected to it. Our protagonist will go after the Skull Man. On his mission to find the Skull Man, they will encounter some really bizarre events. People turning into monsters. As the protagonists learn more about the Skull Man, we learn more about them too. That much I can give you without many spoilers.
A similar anime to me was Death Note, only in Death Note, the question is asked and then later we learn the answer, while in The Skull Man, a lot of questions are asked and kept secret until much later which really keeps you wondering.

This anime raises a lot of questions, like:
Who is the Skull Man?
Why is he killing people?
Why do people turn into monsters?
Who is Hayato?
Who is Kiriko?
Why is Kiriko looking for the Skull Man?
What are the connections to all of this?

These are just a few of the things that'll keep you wondering until the end.

If you like a good mystery, I suggest you watch this anime. It's a short anime so if you're a hard core anime freak, you'll finish it in one or two days.
